Measurable adoption keeps change on track
After a launch, you often hear: “We're live!” But is the new way of working really being embraced? Not everything that is live is alive. Without insight into behavior and usage, adoption remains a feeling. And you can't steer based on feelings.
At Vasco Consult, we make adoption measurable and discussable. Not with one-off measurements, but with practical tools that provide lasting insight, allowing you to make targeted adjustments.
How does that work in practice? Three examples from our assignments.
1. Making usage visible with usage data
After the rollout of a new system, it was unclear whether teams were actually using it. We mapped usage patterns (logins and feature usage within different regions and teams) and bundled this into a simple dashboard. This revealed where adoption was lagging and where additional support was needed.
Key insight: Combine objective usage data with the context of the team. Then you not only see what is happening, but also why.
2. Measuring sentiment and making it discussable
Figures tell us a lot, but not everything. That is why we added sentiment measurements to our assignments. These measurements can be ADKAR surveys or short assessments. Teams indicate how clear the goal and urgency are, whether they feel capable, and where the bottlenecks are. We include the results in the evaluation so that we can choose targeted interventions. For example, additional training, a change in working methods, or clarification of communication.
Key insight: Adoption = data + dialogue. By comparing sentiment with usage, you can manage behavior rather than just numbers.
3. Managing based on value: from insight to action
In one assignment, we saw in the dashboard that some of the ERP licenses were hardly being used. By combining the different data, we were able to take targeted action: redistribute licenses, offer additional guidance, and reduce unnecessary costs. The dashboard proved to be of lasting value for monitoring and managing adoption. After extensive testing by business and IT, the dashboard was taken over by the client.
Key insight: Measurement is only valuable if you have an action plan ready. In addition to delivering a dashboard, make it clear in advance who will take action, when, and how you will evaluate the effect.
In conclusion
Adoption is not an end point, but a moving compass that requires vision, insight, and action. By combining actual usage data with the sentiment within the organization, a complete picture emerges from which concrete actions can be derived.
At Vasco Consult, we make adoption measurable, discussable, and workable. With dashboards that do what they promise and interventions that keep the desired change on track.
