Vacancy Managing consultant
Managing Consultant at Vasco
You’ve probably come across the kind of organisations that talk a lot about entrepreneurship, freedom and impact, while initiative tends to look better on paper than it does in practice.
At Vasco, we follow through on what we say.
We’re in the middle of building our business: our clients, our teams, our way of working, and our future. Not everything is defined yet, and that’s exactly the point. We’re looking for people who are not only strong in their field, but who also want to think along, help shape direction, and make the people around them perform better.
As a Managing Consultant, you thrive in an evolving environment. You connect people and ideas. You lead. You challenge. You bring structure to complex assignments, help clients move forward, and support colleagues in their development.
You’re confident taking responsibility and going beyond delivery. You help shape how work gets done, both with clients and together with your team.
We’re ambitious, growing quickly, and constantly progressing. That’s why you’ll have the space to make a real impact. You’ll be trusted with responsibility and autonomy to truly shape things, together with people who are strong in their expertise, support each other’s growth, and genuinely enjoy working together.
What you can expect from us
At Vasco, we believe great work starts with the right environment. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to perform at your best, while staying true to yourself.
- A permanent contract with a competitive salary (€6,000 – €8,500 per month depending on experience) and bonus scheme.
- A mobility package that suits you: choose between a lease car or a mobility budget.
- A pension scheme with the option to make additional contributions.
- 25 days of annual leave, with the option to buy up to 5 extra days per year.
- A safe and inclusive working environment where you can be yourself (100% score in the Great Place to Work survey).
- A healthy work–life balance. Client work comes first, but you’ll have genuine flexibility in how you organise your working day. Whether that’s early starts and early finishes, or later starts and finishes is up to you.
- A friendly, informal work culture within a close-knit team of 50+ consultants who support each other’s professional and personal growth.
- Room to develop in a way that fits your ambitions, with opportunities to grow within the organisation.
- The opportunity to make visible impact, both with clients and within Vasco
What you’ll do
You’ll spend around 80% of your time working on client projects and 20% on developing Vasco and your own business unit. In client engagements, you’ll work on complex challenges and improvement programmes, moving easily between strategy and execution, and between senior stakeholder discussions, project teams and day-to-day delivery.
You’ll be accountable for the progress of projects and their quality and outcomes, but your role goes far beyond delivery. You’ll act as a coach, advisor and leader for the consultants you work with. You’ll help them grow, provide direction where needed, and create an environment where they can perform at their best.
In the remaining 20% of your time, you’ll focus on building and strengthening client relationships and identifying commercial opportunities. You’ll actively contribute to cross-sell and up-sell potential, helping to further develop your unit. You’ll also play a role in the wider development of Vasco, helping shape the next phase of the organisation.
In addition, you take on responsibility for a team of consultants. You’ll be actively involved in their development, performance and engagement. This includes regular conversations about growth, ambitions and collaboration, giving feedback, addressing challenges early, and supporting decisions around staffing and development paths.
Who we’re looking for
This role is not defined by job titles or years of experience. We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable taking ownership. Someone who enjoys a fast-moving environment and likes having influence over how things are shaped and developed.
You don’t need to have ready answers. But we do expect you to take initiative, get others on board, and show real ownership in what you do.
If this role is right for you, you’ll probably recognise yourself in the following:
- Several years’ experience in consultancy, project management or change management.
- Educated to degree level.
- Comfortable working across project delivery, commercial activity, team leadership and people management.
- Able to quickly understand complex situations and maintain oversight.
- Skilled at building client relationships and supporting the development of colleagues.
- Comfortable in an environment that is still evolving.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and a proactive approach.
- Strong communication skills in both English and Dutch.
Ready to take the next step?
Step into this role, and you’ll be trusted with real responsibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Not only on what happens today, but on how we work better tomorrow.
Does that sound like a place where you could thrive? We’d love to hear from you.
